Who Says Advisors Can’t Sing? Meet Scott Smith!
If you’ve ever met Scott Smith, you’ve probably noticed two things:
1. He’s passionate about helping families build financial harmony.
2. He might just start singing if you give him half a chance.
Scott discovered his love for music back in high school when he joined the Cupertino High School Choir. It didn’t take long for him to realize that singing wasn’t just a hobby—it was part of who he is. From there, he dove head-first into performing groups, musicals, operas, and more. (He’ll tell you himself: singing while dancing is no easy feat!)
Learning from a Legend
During college, Scott was elected president of the BYU Men’s Chorus, directed by none other than Mack Wilberg—now the world-renowned director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Mack’s influence stuck with Scott; he often credits him with shaping not only his singing technique but also his leadership style.
Scott later went on to direct several church choirs himself, where he used Mack’s same approach: bringing out the best in every voice and making music something joyful, not stressful.
The Talkative Tenor
Ask anyone who’s sung next to Scott and they’ll tell you—he’s known to chat during rehearsals. But he makes up for it with his dedication to excellence, humor, and big-hearted energy. Those same traits show up every day in his work as a wealth advisor, where he helps clients find balance and confidence in their financial lives.
Singing for the Season
These days, Scott lends his voice to the Northwest Repertory Singers, a Tacoma-based choral group that celebrates music from around the world. The group fosters community, inclusion, and joy through song—and this holiday season, they’re bringing that magic to two festive events:
