With a master’s degree in Finance from Golden Gate University and a proven track record at prestigious institutions including Fidelity Investments and KeyBank Private Bank, Scott combines analytical precision with a people-first approach to wealth management.
Known for his ability to develop comprehensive financial solutions, Scott has successfully managed portfolios worth millions while building lasting client relationships. His experience spans portfolio construction, trust services, and strategic investment planning.
Scott’s commitment to client success is evidenced by his impressive retention rates and long-standing client relationships.
Fun Fact
Scott has a beautiful tenor voice and is an active member of the Northwest Repertory Singers. He also volunteers his time with his church and the local food bank.
Troy Colby
Wealth Advisor, Chief Operations Officer
Troy oversees business development, sales, and marketing, and is also an active member of the portfolio management team.
He is a dynamic force driven by a passion for excellence. He builds lasting, meaningful relationships with clients. His commitment to integrity and transparency helps form the foundation of Northern Monarch.
Background
Troy has been helping individuals and families achieve their financial goals since becoming a registered investment advisor in 2013.
He ran a successful construction business for 12 years, where he honed skills in navigating challenges, strategizing under pressure, and prioritizing client needs—skills he now utilizes as a financial advisor.

When he’s not listening to podcasts, working, or spending time with friends and family, Troy volunteers as co-founder of Cancer Concierge, an organization that supports individuals battling
cancer by providing essential resources.
Allen Woodard
Wealth Advisor
Allen brings in new clients, and is a client advisor. Allen also participates in the portfolio management team.
Background
A serial entrepreneur, Allen started his first business at 23 and his second at 42. When financially independent after a 32-year career as a marketing consultant and corporate brand strategist, he retired. He then became an investment advisor, working alongside Scott Smith, then Troy Colby, for 14 years before Northern Monarch Capital LLC launched.
An enthusiastic saver and successful investor since his 30s, Allen learned the strategies and dos and don’ts from avid reading, smart investors around him, and priceless personal experience over many market cycles. Starting in his 20s, Allen served on a board of directors every decade of his life, including the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI)/Seattle. Recently, he served 8 years as board member and Treasurer of the Gig Harbor, WA Chamber of Commerce.
Fun Fact
At 8 years old, he picked up a guitar and was giving lessons to others by 13. He still gives a few lessons to players ranging from intermediate to professional musicians. Allen is a songwriter and is cutting his first album with his co-writer. He learned to fly sailplanes at 14, skydived in his 20s, and likes to walk and hike a lot - preferably up high geographical features.
Krista Smith
Insurance Agent and Director of Marketing
Krista is a member of the content creation team. Her contributions include website design, management, and copywriting, as well as email copywriting. She also assists with managing marketing projects.
The strengths Krista brings to Northern Monarch are her research and writing skills, organization, creative thinking, and proactive problem-solving.
Background
Krista has managed large- and small-scale projects for over 20 years—including 3-day conferences attended by over 600 people and closely following and ensuring the long term progress of individuals toward identified goals.
